Las Vegas has one of the highest homeless rates per capita in the United States. Many of the chronically homeless live in the long wash tunnels designed to channel floodwaters away from the manufactured environment. Their living situations, besides being illegal, are strenuous and often cause serious health issues. Their lives are a cesspool of addiction, including those of drugs, alcohol, sex and gambling. Survival is found in welfare, silver-mining, panhandling and crime.
